Help Me Go Broke! | 1 like = $1 to Charity

You read that title correctly!  You can help me give to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital by simply hitting the like button.  More details on that in a minute.

Now, I know, this seems like I am catering and begging for likes.  And while I am asking for likes, I believe that it is for a good cause.

Often times on the internet, we see many individuals asking for likes.  Some individuals try to give raffles or bribes to their fans, like giving an amazon gift card, a shoutout or v-bucks.  It is common to see a YouTube introduction or a tweet that says,

“IF YOU HIT THE LIKE BUTTON ON THIS VID/TWEET, FOLLOW ME, HIT THE BELL, COMMENT THAT YOU HAVE FOLLOWED ME, SHARE IT TO YOUR FRIENDS, BUY MY MERCH, AND TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME, you may have a chance to win a $20 gift card to the apple store!” 

I find them sort of annoying and it often makes me wonder if they actually work.

So since I am back into blogging after my blog died, I knew that I needed to do something big, but that I did not want to do something that was quite as obnoxious.  For the past couple of weeks, I thought about a new and fun way to get my blog community active, while also doing some good in the world.

Personally, I love philanthropy, even if I am not able to do it myself.  I have the upmost respect for individuals who are generous and give to charity.  I know that a lot of people are not able to give to charity, as daily expenses and survival can often time take up an entire budget, and can be stressful on its own.

Therefore, I introduce a challenge for everyone!  For the month of January, every like I receive on every post published within the month, I will donate $1 to charity.  Like the title says, 1 like = $1 to charity.  You do not have to follow me, you do not have to comment or buy anything.  Simply hit the like button can help make me give more to charity.

I know that this may seem like a gimmick, and in a way, it sort of is.  However, I want to make something clear.  I do not make any money off of this blog (at least, at this point).  I do not do ads, sponsors, referrals, etc.  I just want to show everyone that the internet and blogging can be utilized for good, and that a community of people are able to make a difference.

I appreciate everything that you guys do, and please, make me go broke for charity.  Hit that like button!

CHARITY: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

WHAT THEY DO:  St. Jude’s is a hospital dedicated to ending life-threatening diseases (such as cancer) for children, at no cost to the family.  St. Jude’s provides foundational research and life-changing treatment to children every year.   To be clear, I am not partnered or endorsed with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in anyway, but simply want to help donate to a good cause!

HOW MUCH WILL I DONATE:  That is all up to you!  I will donate $1 for every like I get on all posts published in the month of January.  Past posts before January 2020 or after are not included in this charity drive.  I do have an upper limit to how much I can donate, but it is pretty high and comfortably above the amount of likes I have ever received in a month.  So do not be hesitant on hitting the like button.  Make me go broke!

WHEN WILL I DONATE: After January 1st to 31st, I will count all the likes received on the posts, and will donate accordingly, along with an update to everyone about the success of the charity drive.  I will only donate according to the likes received on those posts clicked in this month.

ARE THERE ANY STRINGS ATTACHED: No, there is no strings attached.  All you have to do is hit the like button.  You do not have to follow, comment or even read the post.  Simply hitting like will increase how much money I will donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

DO I BENEFIT FROM THIS:  I do not receive any income or any major benefit from this adventure, accept that I have an excuse to help give to those in need.  I do not have ads or other avenues of revenue with this blog and likes are just a metric that helps me know that individuals like or appreciate my content.
